Muungano Party has resolved to change its name to The Mwananchi Party following a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting held on 4 August 2026. The proposed name, The Mwananchi Party, reflects a people-centred political identity, with Mwananchi meaning “citizen.” The resolution now sets the stage for the party to undertake the necessary formal processes to adopt the new name and communicate its renewed political direction to members and supporters across Kenya.
